HIFU and the Laser Glow Facial in One Visit: Order, Timing and How It Feels

A message I get a lot from visitors: “I’m only in Saigon for three days — can I do HIFU and the laser facial at the same time?” Usually, yes, and many clients choose exactly that. The two work on different layers of the skin, so they fit together rather than compete.

Here is what a combined visit really looks like: which part comes first, how long it all takes, how each step feels, and the times I will suggest splitting it into two days instead. By the end you will know how to plan it around your trip.

Why so many visitors pair the two

HIFU and the Laser Glow do two different jobs. HIFU face lifting at Hugo Beauty sends focused ultrasound energy into the deeper layers, so the skin firms and the lower face lifts gently over 2–3 months. The change builds slowly — you won’t see much on the same evening.

The Laser Glow Facial for same-day brightness works on the surface: more even tone, smoother texture, a plump fresh look as you walk out. Put them together and you start a long-term plan while still leaving with skin you are happy to photograph tonight.

For travellers the biggest win is time: one trip across town, one consultation, one afternoon. Many people book it on the second day of their trip, after one good night of sleep to recover from the flight.

But you don’t always need both. If you only want glowing skin for a dinner or a wedding, the Laser Glow alone is enough. If your goal is a more defined jawline over the next few months and you have no event coming up, HIFU alone is enough. Pair them only when you really want both results — I am happy to tell you which one makes more sense for your face and your trip.

The order: HIFU first, then the Laser Glow

In my studio, HIFU always comes first. The reasons are simple:

  • HIFU needs clean skin and a thick layer of ultrasound gel. Do it first, wipe the gel off, and the skin is ready for the next step.

  • The Laser Glow ends with a cool serum infusion and sunscreen. Keeping that at the end means your skin is calmed and protected before you step outside.

  • Between the two, I have time to look at your skin after HIFU before I decide how to set the laser.

The other way round, the serum from the infusion would be wiped away with the HIFU gel — and you would lose the best part of the finish.

What happens in a combined visit

This is the usual order for a face visit:

  1. Consultation and skin check. I ask what you want to change, look at your skin and feel the jaw and chin area to choose the HIFU zones.

  2. Cleanse and HIFU. I cleanse, apply gel and go line by line over the chosen areas.

  3. Gel off, short break. You have some water while I look at your skin again: tone, warmth, any pinkness.

  4. The laser pass. A thin cool gel, small eye shields, then the gentle laser point by point.

  5. Cool infusion and sunscreen. Hydrating serum, the chilled head, then SPF.

In total it usually takes about 2–2.5 hours for the face, depending on how many HIFU areas we do. Leave a little extra time and don’t book anything urgent straight after — a relaxed dinner nearby in Phu Nhuan is a much better plan than rushing to the airport.

How each part feels

During HIFU you feel warm, slightly prickly points deep under the skin, stronger near the jawbone and cheekbones. I go slowly, tell you before each area, and adjust if anything feels too much.

During the Laser Glow it is much lighter: soft warmth like afternoon sun on your cheek, with a cooled handpiece. After HIFU, many clients call the laser part their reward.

The cool infusion is the most relaxing part. Warm skin meets a chilled head, the warmth fades and any light pinkness fades with it. You leave with bright, plump skin and can put on light make-up.

When I suggest two separate days

Doing both together is not always right. I will tell you honestly and move the Laser Glow to another day if:

  • Your skin is still red or quite warm after HIFU. Then I let it rest and skip the laser that day.

  • You are tanned or sunburnt after a beach trip. The laser should wait; for HIFU I check your skin first.

  • You waxed or had laser hair removal on the face in the last 6 weeks, or something else I need to know, like pregnancy.

  • You feel tired after HIFU and would rather stop. There is no need to push.

If we split it, you can come back for the Laser Glow on another day of your trip, once your skin has fully settled. The studio is about 10 minutes from Tan Son Nhat Airport, so even a quick stop on your last afternoon, before an evening flight, often works.

Before and after a combined visit

Before the visit:

  • Eat something light first — the visit is over two hours.

  • Pause retinol, AHA and BHA for 2–3 days before.

  • Come without make-up, or with light make-up I can remove.

  • Plan a calm evening: dinner is fine, but skip the sauna, pool and sitting in the sun.

After the visit: for the first 24–48 hours, avoid sauna, hot tubs, swimming pools and direct sun on the face. Cleanse gently, moisturise well and wear sunscreen every day. The HIFU areas may feel a little tight or tender to the touch for a few days — that is normal.

I go through it hour by hour, with tips to keep the glow longer, in the first 48 hours after a Laser Glow Facial.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take if I do face and neck for both?

Usually about 2.5–3 hours, because the neck adds time to both HIFU and the laser. When you message me your dates, I will tell you the total time so you can plan your day.

When will I see the result of each one?

The Laser Glow shows as you walk out: brighter, smoother, plumper skin for a few weeks. HIFU builds slowly, with the skin firming and the face looking more defined over about 2–3 months.

Can I have the Laser Glow first and HIFU after?

I usually do HIFU first. The other way round, the serum from the infusion would be wiped away with the HIFU gel, and your skin would not get its calming finish.

If I come back to Saigon next year, do I need both again?

Not necessarily. The Laser Glow can be repeated every 4–6 weeks if you like it. HIFU on the same area is usually repeated after 12–18 months.

Want to pair HIFU and the Laser Glow on your trip?

Send me your dates in Saigon and the areas you care about. I will book enough time for both.
