You walk out of a Laser Glow Facial with skin that looks brighter, smoother and plumper. The next question is always: “How do I make it last?” Most of the answer sits in the first 48 hours — and in one daily habit after that: sunscreen.
None of it is complicated, and you don’t need to buy anything expensive. This is exactly what I tell clients before they leave, hour by hour, with sun tips that work in Saigon’s strong tropical sun and the few signs that mean you should message me straight away.
As you leave: what your skin will look like
Most clients leave with brighter, more even skin that feels smooth and hydrated. It may still feel a little warm, like after an afternoon in the sun, and very fair or sensitive skin can look slightly pink. That pinkness usually fades within a few hours.
You can put on light make-up right away and go to dinner, a meeting or a walk around town. Just use clean brushes or sponges, choose a thin base, and remember you already have the sunscreen I applied at the end. Planning photos today? The glow usually looks its best a few hours later, once any pinkness has settled, so evening photos tend to come out beautifully.
If you had the Laser Glow Facial for face and neck, care for your neck exactly like your face — and don’t forget the sunscreen goes down there too.
Night one: cleansing and moisturising
In the evening, cleanse with cool or lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser. Use your hands, not a cleansing brush or rough cotton pads. Pat dry with a clean towel.
Then just a hydrating serum and your usual moisturiser. If your hotel room is very cold, set the air-con to around 26–27°C tonight; cold, dry air pulls water out of fresh skin overnight. I suggest putting retinol, AHA, BHA, scrubs and peel-off masks aside for the first few days, so your skin can rest.
Use a clean pillowcase, tie your hair back and try not to touch your face. These small things help more than you would think.
Flying out the same evening? That is fine. Cabin air is very dry, so keep a small tube of moisturiser in your hand luggage, re-apply every 4–5 hours and sip water. On a day flight with a window seat, pull the shade down — sun through an aircraft window is still strong. When you land, cleanse gently and follow the table below from where you are.
Sunscreen that actually works in Saigon
This is the most important part of keeping your glow. Skin that has just been evened out tans back quickly if you go into the sun unprotected — and the UV index in Ho Chi Minh City is high most of the year.
Choose: broad-spectrum SPF 50, PA++++ if you can find it. For sensitive skin, a zinc or titanium formula is gentler.
Use enough: about two finger-lengths for face and neck. Too little and the SPF on the bottle no longer applies.
Re-apply: every 2–3 hours outdoors, and after sweating or wiping your face.
Add cover: a wide hat and sunglasses, especially on a motorbike taxi at noon.
Indoors too: sitting by a big window or in a car, the sun still reaches your skin.
Wearing make-up and need to re-apply? Pat on a cushion compact or powder with SPF, or use an SPF mist held about a hand’s length from your face. It does not replace your morning layer, but it keeps you protected through a long afternoon walking around the city.
The first 24–48 hours: what to pause
For the first 24–48 hours, skip anything that heats up the skin or can irritate it:
Sauna, hot tubs and very hot water on your face.
Swimming pools, the beach and direct sun on the face.
Hard workouts with heavy sweating, hot yoga, hot gyms.
Scrubs, home peels, and waxing or threading on the face.
After 48 hours, life is back to normal — just keep the daily sunscreen. For general notes that apply after any visit to the studio, see the Hugo Beauty aftercare instructions.
How to keep the glow longer
The plump, fresh look usually lasts a few weeks. To stretch it:
Sunscreen every day — on rainy days and at home too.
Moisturise morning and night, especially if you spend long hours in air-conditioning.
Drink enough water, sleep enough, and avoid many late nights in a row.
After a few days, you can go back to a morning vitamin C serum if your skin already uses one.
If you live in Saigon and like the result, once every 4–6 weeks is plenty.
There are also a few quiet habits that make skin look dull again faster: squeezing spots, steaming your face over hot water, falling asleep in make-up, and trying several new products at once. Going home to a cold, dry winter? Switch to a richer night cream for the first week, because heating dries skin out quickly after the humid air here. Cut these few things and the glow stays noticeably longer.
If a beach trip comes right after your visit, read when a laser facial is safe again after a tan so you know how to protect your skin and when to come back.
Signs you should message me
Most clients notice nothing except a little warmth and pinkness in the first hours. But if you see any of the following, send me a WhatsApp message with a photo taken in daylight:
Redness or a burning feeling that lasts more than 48 hours.
Small blisters, or peeling in patches.
An area that looks clearly darker than the skin around it.
I am the person who did your session, so I am also the person who answers. Please don’t hesitate to write — even after you have flown home.

Frequently asked questions
Can I wear make-up to a party the same evening?
Yes. Keep it light, use clean brushes or sponges and choose a thin base. At night, remove it with a gentle product and rinse with cool water — no rubbing.
When can I go back to retinol and exfoliants?
Retinol, AHA and BHA can usually come back after about 3 days if your skin is not red or stinging. For grainy scrubs and home peels, wait about a week to be safe.
Can I go to the gym the next day?
Light exercise like walking or a normal yoga class is fine. For hard workouts with a lot of sweat, hot yoga or a hot gym, wait until 24–48 hours have passed.
How long does the glow last?
Usually a few weeks, depending on your sun protection, sleep and how hydrated your skin is. Daily sunscreen is the single best way to keep it.
